Michelle + Renzo | Houston, TX

We were instantly smitten with Michelle and Renzo from our very first encounter. Renzo was calm and warm, and Michelle was a firecracker of personality and hilariousness. It was love at first Skype. From then on, our faces would light up when we saw an email from Michelle pop into our inbox, as they were always entertaining and sweet, with the occasional hilariously placed curse word. A girl after our own heart, clearly! One of my favourite Michelle quotes was when she described her family as good Catholics who “pray hard, and party hard.” Needless to say, we couldn’t wait to see how this would play out on their wedding day.

Michelle and Renzo chose an evening ceremony followed by a late dinner and dance party that would go into the wee hours of the morning. This meant that they had all day to hang out with their respective group of friends, get pampered, and have a couple of drinks. Even Lucy Lui, their tiny fur baby, was included.

I don’t think anything could have prepared us for the magical reception that awaited us after their Catholic church ceremony at THE CORINTHIAN in downtown Houston. Flowers everywhere, colorful uplighting, confetti canons, and suspended porch swings around the dance floor… it was like stepping into an enchanted garden. And as promised, they partied. It was an event so perfectly balanced between epic grandness and sweet love and emotion, and it  entirely suited these two individuals.

We owe a huge thank-you to ROBBY FOLLOWELL who came from Mississippi to give us hand (and give my pregnant self a few much-needed breaks!). It was a tremendous asset  to have his talent and personality with us all day and very (very!) late into the night. Some of the photos below and in the slideshow are his.

And of course, thank you, thank you, thank you, to Michelle, Renzo, and their families and friends for warmly inviting us into this very special day and for giving us some fantastic material to work with! We couldn’t think of a better way to finish up our 2013 wedding season.
