About Davina & Daniel
Five years ago, Davina met Daniel and thought he was pretty dreamy with his camera. As a journalism student in Montreal, she was no stranger to story-telling, but was intrigued by the tool that Daniel used so well.It wasn’t long before Davina stole Daniel’s heart… and got him to share all he knew about photography (he even got her a camera of her own). Daniel, having recently discovered that wedding photography didn’t have to be lame, was starting up his own wedding photography business and thought Davina would be the perfect partner (he thought he might freak her out if her proposed so soon… this was a good alternative). She accepted (and yes, a proposal would have freaked her out). As Davina and Daniel grew as photographers, so did their relationship (cheesy, but true) and they eventually got married (it no longer freaked Davina out).
Davina and Daniel are both award-winning members of the WPJA, Fearless Photographers, and the International Society of Professional Wedding Photographers and were named one of the most inspiring wedding photographers in Canada by Wedding Bells magazine. Davina has been awarded Photographer of the Quarter by the ISPWP, is one of the top 10 Fearless photographers, and one of her images was recently awarded first prize at the Foundation Conference in New Orleans (she likes to remind Daniel of all of this).
Their photos have appeared in many well-loved blogs and magazines, including Style me Pretty, Once Wed, Junebug, Bride magazine, and Well Wed magazine. Together they judged the 2010, 2011, and 2012 BC Wedding Awards, spoke at Mystic Conference 2011, as well as at the first annual Canada Photo Convention in Vancouver in 2012, and will be speaking all over the world in 2013, at conferences in Spain, Brazil, Las Vegas, and Mexico.
Their incredible clients, all of whom have a common love and trust of their vision, have taken them all over the world to photograph their weddings; including Taipei, Bali, Panama, Bhutan, Guatemala, Jamaica and Mexico, as well as Cape Cod, New York, Boston, Florida, and California. They are looking forward to traveling to some new great destinations with their brides and grooms in 2013.
Attending your workshop in Toronto earlier this year has had the single greatest impact on my business so far. Whether it be how to compose an image or plan a wedding day schedule with my clients I have confidence in knowing that I will be successful in getting the shots I want. And the shots I want have become the shots my clients want because they want my vision. Hearing about your experiences and approach to photography have been tremendously invaluable to my growth. Thank you both for the intensive 2 day workshop and opportunity to network with other great photographers a continent away! I can’t wait to get together again soon!”
- Tim Mak, San Francisco wedding photographer
“Davina and Daniel are both photographers whose work I highly respect, and it was so educational to watch their photography process; how they interacted with the subjects, how they scout out the light and locations. It was amazing.
I was so inspired.
It was so fascinating to watch them bring beauty from dubious alleyways and dumpsters. Daniel and Davina are masters of their work, and watching them infused a new sense of energy and creativity into my work.”
- Nadine Latief, Austin wedding photographer
“I had an amazing opportunity to attend Davina & Daniel’s Toronto workshop and it was one of the best investments I’ve ever made for my business. As a newer photographer I was beyond inspired. From the practical elements of shooting to the business aspects, I was able to see my business from a refreshingly different perspective. Most importantly, the D & D workshop inspired me to shoot from my heart, never-forgetting the raw emotions and story-telling aspects associated with wedding photography and family portraiture. Thanks again D & D.”

“Davina and Daniel!
Mark and I are so grateful of the opportunity to come to your studio and speak with you for a day. We came in feeling fairly deflated about our business, and left full of new ideas and motivation. And now, months later, I wanted to let you know we are still often thinking of the things we talked about on that day, and still implementing new ideas. And as for shooting, during the longer stretches of a wedding day when I think I’ve run out of things to photograph, I ask myself, “what would Daniel and Davina do?”, and sure enough, something comes to mind. It has been so very helpful for us working together as a couple, to think back on some of the things you helped us learn, and so I just wanted to send you one more big THANK YOU for all your help! Hope to see you again soon!”

“The 1 On 1 Workshop with Davina + Daniel is such a great investment for your business. What I loved about the 1 on 1 experience is that they customize the workshop to cater to the areas where you want to improve the most. They are not going to spend a full day talking about f stops and shutter speeds, well maybe if you want them to. Davina + Daniel are a not only an amazing photographer duo, they are also great educators that are willing to share their knowledge and experiences. I have instantly seen improvement in the way I shoot and approach each wedding. The only regret I have was not attending this workshop sooner.”
- Derrick Rice, Ottawa wedding photographer
“Of all the expenses involved in starting a photography business, this 1 on 1 skype session with Davina + Daniel was, hands down, one of the best investments we could have made. Having the chance to discuss workflow, technique, lighting, post-processing (the list goes on!) with two of the best in the business has improved our product and simplified our workflow already. In the few weeks we’ve had to implement and experiment since our session, we both agree that we got the “jump” we needed so desperately.
This is a PERFECT option for photographers to grow – no matter where they are in their career or what their photography “style” is or even where they live. The two hours were jam-packed full of photography goodness, without the expenses or hassle of traveling across the country to workshop in person.. Their honest feedback was completely and immediately applicable and couldn’t have been better communicated, and their enthusiasm and excitement for sharing their knowledge with us was infinitely appreciated. We feel like we gained more than enough knowledge to take us to the next level, and made friends with two talented (and delightful!) photographers who we greatly respect. Four thumbs up and two giant smiles from the both of us.”
