my dearest blog readers,

as you know, i spent the last two weeks in mexico. during this time, we attended the most amazing wedding, that of our friends and photographers, ben and erin chrisman. we then spent a whole week in puerto vallarta, where we will be tying the knot next april. we encountered many obstacles, mainly due to the time at which the sun sets. it was really tough and emotional for both of us to realize that the wedding we had envisioned may not go as we had anticipated, but we found ways around it, and we’re coming out of it very pleased with ourselves – not to mention incredibly excited for our wedding to finally arrive!

but i also had a lot of thinking time. time to think about what i want, for one thing. i’ve been struggling to find the time that this blog deserves. after much thought, i’ve decided that it is best for me to stop. i’d love to keep updating you during these last few months of planning, but they’ve turned out to be much more intense then i could have ever anticipated. i just don’t have time to do this anymore.

i can’t thank you enough for all your support and suggestions throughout this process. i feel so lucky to have had all of you come along with me for this crazy ride! to be honest, right now, i’m just as unsure about what the end result will look like as you are! but i know that i’ve got the right man by my side. and after all, isn’t that really what all this fuss is for?

in related news, we’re leaving for mexico TOMORROW. we’re shooting one wedding, attending another and then heading over to puerto vallarta to take care of some business for our wedding (eeeeeee!). next friday we will be visiting the villa where our wedding will be taking place… for the first time (eeeeeee!). we’ll scope it all out, hopefully take lots of photos to share with you, and of course, find a good spot for this hanging photo idea!

ok. so. daniel and i have been getting a lot done these days, in the diy-project category, as well as the decision-making and reservation/booking categories. good stuff. we are happy campers.

we still have a few paper good to put together: menus, place cards, and welcome packages. we’re trying our best to simplify things (i know what you’re thinking: davina? simple? since when?), so i’m thinking of doing a cute, self-contained information pack like this one:

or maybe just a strip of wrap-around paper, like this one:

apparently there are two people involved in this wedding (go figure) and in this case, my other half has requested to take care of stationary. so here we are. daniel, excited about designing our paper goods. me, relinquishing some control… letting someone take over…

as you probably know by now, i’m not a flower person. i’m not really planning on having flowers at all at our wedding (i myself will likely be foregoing the bride bouquet tradition), except maybe bouquets for the bridesmaids to somewhat tie them together since they’ll be in different dresses. anyhoo, i’m still mulling over my different options. in the process of searching i came across this beautiful lilac bouquet. it won’t work for us, but gosh is it ever lovely! and it’s something i’ve never seen before, which is really rare at this point! this would probably be the world’s easiest diy bouquet too – old pearls, ribbon, and few branches from a neighbor’s lilac tree and you’re ready for your walk down the aisle!

how enchanting is this ceremony set-up? candles and birch “stools” for guest seating… it takes real vision to pull this off but it totally works. although i’m not sure how comfortable that seating would be… but hey, it’s pretty!

last friday, a few of my bridesmaids (arielle, marie-eve, kate, and lisa) and daniel’s sister (elyna), joined me for an evening of crafting and cupcakes. it was so wonderful to spend some time with these amazing ladies and to have their help on a few time-consuming wedding projects.

we got quite a few things done, including cutting, folding, sticking and stuffing our confetti envelopes, which i will be bringing to mexico in 2 weeks to store with our wedding planner. in photoshop, i created a template (since we wanted a specific size and color), typed up the text, and printed 2 to a page to save paper and money. the key to making them look professional was my handy corner punch which we used to round the flap corners. my never-fail pritt roller made the sticking part easy (and fun! – seriously, this tool rocks) and our map stickers by cavallini & co sealed the deal once the confetti was successfully tucked away.

wow oh wow. this necklace kicks some serious ass. well, i mean, if necklaces could do such a thing.

it’s not available on net-a-porter anymore but it was last seen on sale for $591.50. not cheap, but definitely the type of accessory that makes the outfit. can you imagine this with a simple, a-line wedding dress with an open neckline? stunning.

the great napkin debate.

i have an important question. and i’m using the word “important” very loosely.

daniel and i agree that we like the idea of a napkin with a print to bring a little interest to the table settings (we’re thinking of keeping it pretty simple). so i found these at ikea thought they were perfect in a gray and white stripe. but daniel said it’s ghetto to have a paper napkin unless we’re having a country/backyard-ish wedding.

i know you are all pretty faithful to me as my beloved readers, but i’m giving you permission to disagree with me. paper napkins (the gray and white ones). yay or nay?

oh and i forgot to mention that these would set us back a whopping 6$ total. budget. buster.

sometimes i feel like i’ll never see another new wedding idea again. and then i randomly come across cute little ideas like this puzzle guestbook alternative and i get excited. the puzzle is a photo of the couple, and each guest signs/writes a note on the back of one piece. pretty cute, right?!

what’s with the post title, you might ask. that’s me, being speechless. speechless because i’ve been in love with my primarily gray wedding color palette for so long… and now i’ve seen it with nude. doesn’t this inspiration board make you want to let out a huge sigh?
